Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers Inc. (“SCTE”, “we”, “our”, or
“us”), and it’s international arm International Society of Broadband
Experts (ISBE), respects and is committed to protecting your privacy. This
Privacy Policy has been adopted to demonstrate our commitment to fair
information practices and to let you know how we use the information we
collect, including usage information and Personal Information about you.
“Personal Information” is information that can be used on its own or with
other information to identify, contact, or locate a single person, or to
identify an individual in context. This Privacy Policy applies to any web
page, blog, mobile application, email list, onsite data collection, generic
information, and Personal Information collected and/or owned by us,
including but not limited to our website located at https://www.scte.org,
and any other website operated by SCTE. This Privacy Policy is in effect no
matter the method of collection (such as by mail, in-person appointment,
sign-up/sign-in page or survey), including collection through our websites,
mobile application and any online features, products, services, and/or
programs we offer (collectively, the “Web Properties”).
Please read our Privacy Policy carefully to get a clear understanding of
how we collect, use, protect or otherwise handle your information,
including Personal Information. We pledge that we will take reasonable
steps to ensure that your information will only be used in ways that comply
with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any term in this Privacy
Policy, please do not provide us with your information or use the Web
Properties.
What information do we collect?
When ordering or registering on our site, or applying for membership, as
appropriate, you may be asked to enter certain Personal Information,
including your name, email address, mailing address, phone number, credit
card information or other details to help you with your experience. You are
not required to provide any of this information, but if you choose not to
provide certain information, we may not be able to provide you the
requested service or complete your transaction.
When you visit our Web Properties, we may automatically collect some usage
information, even if you do no place an order or register. This information
may include, among other things, Internet Protocol (or IP) address or
device ID/UDID, protocol and sequence information; browser language and
type; domain name system requests; browsing history (such as, time spent at
a domain, time and date of your visit) and number of clicks; and http
headers, and operating system and fingerprinting data.
When do we collect information?
We collect information from you when you visit our blog, website or use or
app, register on our site, place an order, subscribe to a newsletter,
respond to a survey, send us an email or other correspondence, fill out a
form or enter information on our site, and when you provide us with
feedback on our products or services.
How do we use your information?
We may use the information we collect from you when you register, make a
purchase, sign up for our newsletter, respond to a survey or marketing
communication, surf the website, or use certain other site features in the
following ways:
- To personalize your experience and to allow us to deliver the type of
content and product offerings in which you are most interested.
- To improve our website in order to better serve you.
- To improve our products and services.
- To allow us to better service you in responding to your customer service
requests.

How do we protect your information?
Our website is scanned on a regular basis for security holes and known
vulnerabilities in order to make your visit to our site as safe as
possible.
Your Personal Information is contained behind secured networks and is only
accessible by a limited number of persons who have special access rights to
such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential. In
addition, all sensitive/credit information you supply is encrypted via
Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology.
We implement a variety of security measures when you place an order and

All transactions are processed through a gateway provider and are not
stored or processed on our servers.

security, we do not and cannot guarantee or warrant that any information
transmitted through the Internet is secure, or that such transmissions are
free from delay, interruption, interception or error.
Retention of data
We, or third parties engaged by us, may store any information we collect
from you, which may include Personal Information, for as long as necessary
for the purposes for which it was collected, to provide you with products
or services, to conduct legitimate business interests, and where otherwise
required or permitted by law.
Do we use 'cookies'?
Yes. Cookies are small files that a site or its service provider transfers
to your computer's hard drive through your web browser (if you allow) that
enables the site's or service provider's systems to recognize your browser
and capture and remember certain information. For instance, we use cookies
to help us remember and process the items in your shopping cart. They are

Web Beacons
Some of our web pages and electronic communications may contain images,
which may or may not be visible to you, known as Web Beacons (sometimes
referred to as ‘clear gifs’). Web Beacons collect only limited information
that includes a cookie number, time and date of a page view, and a
description of the page on which the Web Beacon resides. We may also carry
Web Beacons placed by third party advertisers. These Web Beacons do not
carry any Personal Information and are only used to track usage of the Web
Properties and activities associated with the Web Properties.
Unique Identifier
We may assign you a unique internal identifier to help keep track of your
future visits. We use this information to gather aggregate demographic
information about our visitors, and we use it to personalize the
information you see on the Web Properties and some of the electronic
communications you receive from us.
Third-party disclosure
Except as otherwise set forth in this Privacy Policy, we do not sell,
trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties your Personal Information
unless we provide users with advance notice. This does not include website
hosting partners and other parties who assist us in operating our website,
conducting our business, or serving our users, so long as those parties

or other disposition of all or part of our business and/or assets, or in
the event of our bankruptcy, reorganization, insolvency, receivership, or

connection with any of the above described proceedings. We cannot and will
not be responsible for any breach of security by any third parties or for
any actions of any third parties that receive any of the information that

third party service providers -- or allow those third party service
providers to collect, use, retain and disclose to us -- any Personal

Google
We use Google AdSense Advertising on our website and we have implemented
Google Display Network Impression Reporting and DoubleClick Platform
Integration.
Google is a third party vendor that uses cookies to serve ads on our Site.
Google uses a DART cookie to serve ads to our users based on their visit to
our website and other websites on the Internet. We use first-party cookies
(such as the Google Analytics cookies) and third-party cookies (such as the
DoubleClick cookie) together to compile data regarding user interactions
with ad impressions and other ad service functions as they relate to our
website.

Notice to California residents
Under California’s “Shine the Light” law, California residents who provide
certain personally identifiable information in connection with obtaining
products or services for personal, family, or household use are entitled to
request and obtain from us (once per calendar year) information about the
customer information that we shared (if any) with other businesses for
their own direct marketing uses. If applicable, this information would
include the categories of customer information and the names and addresses
of those businesses with which we shared customer information for the
immediately prior calendar year. To obtain this information, please send an

“Request for California Privacy Information” in the subject line and in the
body of your message. We will provide the requested information to you at
your email address in response. Please be aware that not all information
sharing is covered by the “Shine the Light” requirements, and only
information on covered sharing will be included in our response.
Under California Civil Code Section 1789.3, California residents who use
the Web Properties are entitled to the following consumer rights notice: If

“Do Not Track” signals
Note that your browser settings may allow you to automatically transmit a

many websites and online services, we currently do not alter our practices

Children Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)
Our Web Properties are not intended or designed to attract children under
the age of thirteen (13). You affirm that you are more than eighteen (18)

representations, and warranties set forth in this Privacy Policy, and to

Fair Information Practices
The Fair Information Practices principles form the backbone of privacy law
in the United States and the concepts they include have played a
significant role in the development of data protection laws around the
globe. Understanding the Fair Information Practice principles and how they
should be implemented is critical to comply with the various privacy laws
that protect Personal Information.
In order to be in line with Fair Information Practices we will take the
following responsive action, should a data breach occur: (1) we will notify
you via email within 7 business days; and (2) we will notify users via
in-site notification within 7 business days.
We also agree to the redress principle, which requires that individuals
have the right to legally pursue enforceable rights against data collectors
and processors who fail to adhere to the law. This principle requires not
only that individuals have enforceable rights against data users, but also
that individuals have recourse to courts or government agencies to
investigate and/or prosecute non-compliance by data processors.
Choices with your Personal Information and opting out
Whether you submit any Personal Information to us is entirely up to you.
You are under no obligation to provide any Personal Information to us.

follow the instructions at the bottom of each email or contact us as set

comprehensive removal of the content. For example, we may retain the
information for our own internal records, and it is also possible that a
